Details
First shown as a concept vehicle in 2003, the 8C Competizione is expected to go into production almost unchanged. Its 4.7-liter V-8 engine makes 450 bhp (331 Kw) at 7000 rpm with peak torque of 347 lb-ft (470 Nm) of torque at 4750 rpm. The front-engined chassis is balanced with a 6-speed paddle-shift sequential manual transaxle at the rear. A fully independent double-wishbone suspension, 20-inch wheels, stability control and traction control all contribute to world-class handling developed on Germany's Nürburgring race track. The limited production two-seat coupe has a lightweight carbon-fiber composite body. The 8C Competizione name evokes famous Alfa Romeo road-racing cars such as the 1935 8C 2900A and the 6C 2500 Competizione that Juan-Manuel Fangio and Augusto Zanardi drove to victory in 1950 at Targa Florio.
